Step into a world of glitter, glamour, and the timeless magic of Barbie at our Queer Barbie Cinema Night, hosted by Glass Closet Events at England’s original cinema! This enchanting event invites the entire queer community, with a special focus on queer women, trans, and non-binary individuals, to join us for an unforgettable night of Barbie-themed wonder and cinematic delight. 

HIGHLIGHTS:

Film Screening: Immerse yourself in a magical Barbie-themed atmosphere of a historic central London cinema that is dolled up with vibrant decor inspired by everyone’s favourite fashion icon. Even the staff will be partaking in dressing up for this occasion! The cinema is a historic place, being the original birthplace of cinema in the United Kingdom – the first location to show moving pictures. 

Photo Opportunities: Strike a pose and capture the glamour of the evening at our dedicated Barbie-themed photo area. Surround yourself with Barbie props and backdrops, and let your inner Barbie or Ken shine as you create picture-perfect memories to share with friends and fellow Barbie enthusiasts. 

Cocktail Bar: Enjoy a range of artisanal wines and local craft beers at the cinema’s lively cocktail bar, as well as fabulous Barbie themed cocktails and snacks. Sip on your dazzling drinks while mingling with other attendees, or take them to your seat to enjoy during the film!  

Barbie Movie Premiere: Save yourself from spoilers and be among the first to witness the premiere of an exciting new Barbie movie on the big screen. Prepare to embark on a dazzling adventure and be captivated by the magic of Barbie’s world, brought to life by Greta Gerwig. The film begins at 8 PM for Friday ticket holders, and 5:20 PM for Saturday ticket holders! 

Costume Contest: We will hold a costume contest at the cinema after the end of the film, by popular vote! Categories are: Best Barbie Costume, Best Ken Costume, Best Barbie Duo Costume, Best Genderqueer Barbie, and Best Bonus Barbie (Barbie Side Character). Prizes for each winner include: A free drink ticket,  a free ticket* to a future Glass Closet event of their choosing, and a one-of-a-kind medal/trophy. 

After Party at Simmons Fitzrovia: After we have finished up at the cinema, the fun continues as we head to a private room at Simmons Fitzrovia for afters. Join us for lively discussions about the film, mix and mingle with fellow Barbie enthusiasts, in a vibrant atmosphere. Simmons Fitzrovia will provide the perfect backdrop for our post-screening celebrations with its fun, colourful vibes! There will even be a DJ on the decks.  

Important Information:

Tickets: Tickets must be booked through this page listing in order to be on the guest list for both the cinema viewing and the after party. Purchasing tickets will guarantee you a ticket to the cinema, but seats will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is recommended to come early if you have a particular spot in mind or a large group you’d like to sit with.  

Dress Code: Embrace your inner Barbie, or channel your Ken-ergy! Dress up in your most fabulous attire. From glamorous gowns, Barbie Cosplays, to daring outfits, the choice is yours.

Access: The cinema is fully accessible. Simmons Fitzrovia only has step-free access to the first floor and outdoor area, and does not have accessible toilets as they are located downstairs. Complimentary carer tickets are available, please reach out to us via OutSavvy if you may need a carer ticket.
