QueerSwap – Queer Clothing Swap & Social

Join us for a fabulous 🌈 Queer Clothing Swap and Social! Bring up to 10 items of gently-used clothing that no longer spark joy in your wardrobe and exchange them for new-to-you items that suit your current style. This event is for everyone in the queer community to find clothing that fits and expresses their individuality and affirm their identity without breaking the bank.

Our event will be filled with fun and laughter, so bring your friends along and meet other queer folks.  There will be spaces to sit down, settle in, and socialise over some ice-breakers and board/card games as well as nice warm toasties and bevvies for purchase! There will be alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available, and music provided by AAJA’s local radio DJs! 🎶

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to refresh your wardrobe and enjoy a budget and eco-friendly day out with your friends. 

It’s like queer charity shopping and brunch in one go – how could you say no to that? 🛍️🥪🥂

When you arrive you will exchange your swappable items for tokens. You can then browse items brought by others, and “check out” at the end by “cashing in” your tokens for those items. 

1 item = 1 token to exchange

Once the items are traded for tokens they go straight onto the floor, so make sure you are 100% sure before you pass them over.

Any items remaining at the end of the swap may be kept for the next event, utilised in an upcycling or refashioning workshop, or taken to the LGBT+ community center. 

If you have more than 10 items you may bring the excess as a donation. You will still be capped at 10 swapping tickets in order to help ensure everyone can find items. If you are unable to attend the event and wish to make a donation, please DM us or email us (see below). 

We will be running a free craft workshop with some upcycled materials from past swaps. More details to come!

❗❗ Note: We will not accept items that are dirty, stained, torn (with the exception of “distressed” items), missing buttons, have broken zips, etc. We also will not accept underwear, socks, tights/hosiery, or any children’s items. We have decided to permit hats, scarves, and bags and new jewellery (must have tags). 

Allies are welcome but please be mindful that this is a queer centered space.

 This event is PWYC – all ticket sales go towards operating costs to put this event on, and purchasing items to improve and develop this event. 💖
